Energy efficiency is the most cost-effective solutions to climate change.
If the legislators and the negotiators have the knowledge and information of EE, they should have moved forward the climate legislation.
Unleashing the power of EE:
opportunities: important driver is costs. Carbon emissions reduction is the second most important driver to achieve EE, except the US.
Government policy is the key driver to EE and carbon reductions. Not just low hanging fruits, people are just eating snacks. Everyone shall eat full meals, in terms of capturing the potential of EE.
JCL is looking more into retrofitting rather than newly built because of the potential.
French: office temperature summer 21-22 degrees and winter 18-19 degrees, just the opposite to the US. Hope and opportunity: 1) smart city - integrated solutions; 2) new generation
119-yr-old Philips: lighting: live, work and leisure Public procurement through public bidding always looks for lowest cost products. We now need to integrate the life cycle and also the social and environmental impact. From lenior to circular society.
Energy saved is equivalent to power plants reduced to build. A typical way of calculating the impact of saving.
Alliance to Save Energy - Dow Chemicals, since 1994, saving 9.4 million dollars Mindset is the key. Another over 100-yr-old company. Wasted money on the table, if looking into future 100 yrs. Solutions exist today. 1994 started the process of looking into every angle of energy saving opportunities. Not individual silos, but in an integrated mindset, positive, forward looking way. Tools, solutions, we need to look into the next generation of solutions, in buildings, transport. Opportunities out there, need to galvanize the policy to support that process.
